Based on Verena Huppert’s master thesis from Aalborg University, Arctic Consensus invites to a presentation and discussion of the topic “Brain Drain in the Arctic: The Retention of Local High-Skilled Labour in Nuuk, Greenland” on August 23, 3 pm., at Vesterbro 79, 2. floor, 9000 Aalborg.

She looked at how Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, handles brain drain and retention of high-skilled labour, and examined how the town could benefit from considering methods used in a Canadian city with similar challenges.

The fieldwork in Nuuk, Greenland, and Charlottetown, Canada, led to an interesting analysis of the responses to brain drain that could be of interest in Nuuk.

Verena presents the various initiatives in both cities, as well as recommendations on how Nuuk can benefit from the experience and initiatives in Canada. The presentation is followed by a debate and discussion

Please note that the event will be held in Danish.

UPDATE: We are overwhelmed by the positive response on our event. Therefore, we have now made it possible to participate in the presentation via the internet. If you would like to participate in the meeting, but cannot make it to Aalborg that day, there is the option to participate in the meeting via your own computer (smartphones or tablets are not compatible).
